RADARMAGELANG.ID, Mungkid The Magelang Regency Health Office (Dinkes) recorded 320 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the past year. Nine of them died. While the victims were dominated by children to adults living in urban areas.
The Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division (Kabid) for the Magelang Health Office, Budi Suprastowo, explained that dengue fever is prone to attack urban communities. Especially areas with high population density. In addition, the sanitation aspect is not well maintained and there are lots of standing water.
“Population behavior and community mobilization in urban areas also have an effect. It is very susceptible to all infectious diseases,” he told Jawa Pos Radar MagelangFriday (13/1).
He explained, in early January 2023 DHF cases had started to enter the village. Previously the most attacks were in the area of the protocol road. Such as Secang, Mertoyudan, Mungkid, Muntilan, Borobudur and Tempuran. “Currently it has entered Candimulyo. So that several villages have been fogged in these areas,” said Budi.
There were 118 cases of dengue fever attacking people aged 15-44 years. Followed by 109 cases attacking children aged 5-14 years. Meanwhile, over the age of 44, only 42 cases were recorded. However, the highest death rate was five people. The other four who died from dengue fever were children. While 51 other cases attacked children under the age of 4 years.
Meanwhile, the areas most prone to dengue fever are Mungkid with 58 cases, then Muntilan with 52 cases, and Mertoyudan with 45 cases. Kajoran District is an area with zero cases of dengue fever throughout 2022. (mg12/mia/lis)
