The community of Valva, in the Alta Valle del Sele, is in shock as this morning they prepare to pay their last respects at the Church of San Giacomo Apostolo, where the funeral will be held at 10 am, to Emanuele Miolli, the 32-year-old electrician who died Thursday evening while riding a scooter that crashed into a pole after finding a dog on the road. The tragedy occurred on provincial road 9E, a few meters from the town center and the city cemetery. It was just after 7:30 pm when the 32-year-old, who was in the town square after meeting a friend from Oliveto Citra, borrowed the scooter to take a ride of just under a kilometer in the town center of Valva. According to an initial reconstruction, however, around 8 pm, after having travelled just under 700 metres on the two-wheeler, the young electrician, in order to avoid hitting a large stray dog that had appeared on the road, carried out a manoeuvre that made him lose control of the scooter.
On impact, the scooter first hit the stray dog and then crashed into a road sign and a tree. The impact was very violent. The crash left no escape for the 32-year-old. Not even the helmet the electrician was wearing could save his life.
