The presenter of the upcoming 31st edition of the Czech Lion will be Marek Eben. He will replace actor and director Jiří Havelka in the role of guide for the award ceremony of the Czech Film and Television Academy (ČFTA). The ceremony will take place on March 9, 2024 at the traditional location, i.e. in the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum in Prague. The live broadcast is broadcast by Czech Television.

“The Czech lion is no vegetarian. Maybe that’s why this evening is always so meaty. Everyone who participates in it has to reckon with that. We will all approach it with all responsibility and try to make it edible,” agrees actor, musician and experienced presenter Eben.
Voting on nominations starts already on Thursday. This year, ČFTA academics are choosing from a total of 86 films and television projects, specifically from 33 feature films and 15 documentary feature films, eight animated films and 15 short films, as well as six television films or miniseries and 14 series.
As usual, prizes will be awarded in 21 statutory categories. The final nominations will be announced on January 15, 2024.
The authors of the new visual style of the Czech Lion are Jana Krchová and Ondřej Fučík.
