31-Year-Old Shot Dead in Siena: Partner Arrested

The partner of Ana Manyoma Casanova, a 33-year-old Colombian woman who died yesterday afternoon after being shot in the head with a 16-gauge rifle while she was at home, was arrested in Siena for illegal possession of a firearm. The man, also 26 years old and Colombian, according to investigators, was holding the rifle “while the two were alone in the bedroom”. At that moment “other people were in various rooms in the building”, the prosecutor’s office explained in a statement. The 26-year-old is also “under investigation for mistreatment in the family, illegal possession of ammunition and light narcotics”.

The 26-year-old was questioned during the night and “he firmly denied the intention, reporting that the shot was fired accidentally”. In the next few hours, the prosecutor’s office will request the preliminary investigations judge to validate the arrest. The prosecutor’s office also explains that “the investigations, which continued all night and are still ongoing, are aimed, in particular, at clarifying the dynamics of the shot” and “a series of elements that are being further verified, have determined, also in order to allow an appropriate defense by the suspect, to register the proceedings for the hypothesis of the crime of wilful homicide aggravated by the emotional relationship and the cohabitation relationship”.
