The coronavirus is decimating the ranks of the police in Yvelines. After the discovery of 25 cases among the police from the Mantes la Jolie last week, in a single unit, it is now the police station of Saint-Germain-en-Laye that is affected. A total of 31 officials tested positive in just two days, out of a total of 150 police officers. And this affects all services.
The antigenic tests were carried out in town hall, after the discovery of the first case. Others will be made at the beginning of next week, to find out if the police have, in the meantime, been contaminated.
No decontamination of the premises
Waiting, life goes on almost normally at the police station. Much to the dismay of the SGP Police-FO union. “We had asked, from Friday evening, to close the premises, at least for the weekend, pending decontamination, but this was refused to us by the departmental management, regrets François Bersani, departmental secretary of the union in Yvelines. Even the decontamination has not been done and the police officers are required to be at their workplace, even if they are in contact because in the police, as for the hospital staff, we cannot observe a period of isolation.”
He is worried about the beginning of next week. “For the moment, the absence of the 31 patients is not being felt, because the colleagues have a series of shifts, but by keeping staff in a contaminated place, we increase the number of possible cases and we risk to amputate even more the number of personnel present in this police district. “ François Bersani explains that daily police-rescue missions could be carried out by other police stations if contaminations were to increase.
