(SW) It will be great tennis in the truest sense of the word. The largest German tennis tournament at our neighbors in Halle/Westphalia is celebrating its 30th birthday. What began as the Gerry Weber Open is now called the Terra Wortmann Open.
To mark the anniversary, the absolute world elite in men’s tennis will be at the start of the preparatory tournament at Wimbledon in East Westphalia from June 17th to 25th.
In the afternoon talk with OS-Radio 104.8 moderator Sören Hage, tournament director Ralf Weber spoke about highlights of the tournament’s history so far and very personal memories. It is also about the return of the Swiss superstar Roger Federer to Halle/Westphalia, other special features on the show stage and, according to the organizer, the best field of participants in the history of the tournament.
In addition, Ralf Weber, as one of the most experienced tournament directors in the scene, provides a behind-the-scenes look at the organization of such an event with the associated financial challenges. Last but not least, Sören Hage speaks openly and honestly with Ralf Weber about the downsides of sport. Abuse of power, sexual assault and betting scandals.
Here’s the cut.
