According to him, as quoted Reuters, Saturday (16/4/2022), there were no civilian casualties.
He continued that between 19,000 and 20,000 Russian soldiers had died in the war, now in its eighth week.
Moscow said last month that 1,351 Russian soldiers were killed and 3,825 injured.
So far the claims of the two parties could not be independently verified.
Fighting is fierce in Mariupol as Ukraine says it is trying to break Russia’s siege on the southeastern port city. Home to 400,000 people before the Russian invasion, Mariupol has been reduced to rubble. Thousands of civilians died and tens of thousands are still trapped.

“The situation in Mariupol is difficult and difficult. The fighting is going on right now. The Russian army is constantly calling in additional units to storm the city,” Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanyk told a briefing.
He said Russia had not completely captured Mariupol.
