The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on one hundred days of work of the new team of Minister Rustem Umerov and spoke about the internal audit carried out.
As I wrote in the column for Liga.net Deputy Minister Yuriy Dzhigir, as part of the audit for the last quarter, it was possible to find potential violations and losses of assets worth 10 billion hryvnia.
About 300 ministry officials responsible for procurement for the Ukrainian army and other financial activities were brought to disciplinary and financial liability. The issue of their criminal liability will be resolved after studying the information transmitted to law enforcement agencies. Dzhigir noted that the lion’s share of abuses concerns manipulations with combat payments to Ukrainian defenders.
The Deputy Minister of Defense also stated that everyone is waiting for the results of the fight against corruption in the army: Ukrainian society and Western partners who provide assistance in the fight against Russian aggression, therefore, in the first hundred days of work, the new leadership of the Ministry of Defense devoted most of its time to internal audit, as well as creating a budget for army for next year according to NATO standards.
Let us remind you that the adviser to the Deputy Minister of Defense was informed of suspicion of theft of funds from procurements for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, we are talking about an amount of 1.7 billion hryvnia.
