300 people were tricked into buying and selling Antam’s gold via Facebook, losing billions of rupiah

PEKANBARU, KOMPAS.com – A number of citizens in the City Pekanbaru, Riau, is suspected of being the victim of fraud in the sale and purchase of precious metals gold antam via Facebook social media.

One of the victims was a woman with the initials WR (32), a resident of Pekanbaru Kompas.com admitted that he had reported to the Riau Regional Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) for the fraud he had experienced.

“I am one of the victims of fraud selling cheap antam gold via Facebook. And, earlier I and three other victims in Pekanbaru have made a report to the Riau Police,” said WR by telephone, Monday (7/9/2020) afternoon.

WR admitted that he suffered a loss of Rp. 121 million. The reason is, the Antam gold ordered via Facebook, Ginceu Iluva, totaling 200 grams has not been sent by the perpetrator.

Not only was he the loser, several other Pekanbaru residents also suffered hundreds of millions of losses.

“There have been many victims of this fraud case. Not only in Pekanbaru, but from Sabang to Merauke there were around 300 victims. In Pekanbaru there were eight victims. Some lost Rp. 400 million, Rp. 360 million, Rp. 120 million and Rp. 200 million. “In Batam (Riau Islands) the victim has also reported to the Riau Islands Police,” said WR.

He admitted that he had ordered Antam’s gold from Ginceu Iluva but he had not received it. The first order weighs 150 grams on 26 June 2020, while the second order is 50 grams on 8 July 2020.

WR has not yet received Antam’s gold orders for about two months. In fact, several times contacted the admin Ginceu Iluva, but never responded.

“I tried calling, WhatsApps, but there was no response at all. The owner is in Jakarta named Drelia Wangsih,” said WR.

Before the alleged fraud occurred, WR told me that the sale and purchase transaction through Ginceu Iluva was running normally.

A few grams of gold and brand-name items ordered are always shipped within two weeks.

“Actually, Ginceu Iluva is my subscriber. I used to do a normal transaction. But two gold orders totaling 200 grams have not yet been sent. When contacted, I didn’t respond, meaning this was not a good intention, so we reported the police because we felt we had been cheated,” said WR.

When asked about the price of Antam’s gold sold in Ginceu Iluva, WR admitted that the price was cheaper.

“Yesterday the price varied. For example, I bought 50 grams, it was Rp.30.5 million,” said WR.

Therefore, WR hopes that the police can investigate the alleged perpetrators of this cheap Antam gold sale and purchase fraud.

“Yes, I hope the perpetrators will be caught soon before the number of victims increases,” concluded WR.
