“Tourism for everyone shouldn’t just be a catchphrase,” Uwe Stanke is convinced. It was important to him to make the cycle path passable for hand bikers as well: “The initial spark came from inquiries as to whether the Five Rivers Cycle Path can be used with a hand bike and whether there are bookable offers. In fact, we weren’t sure if the path was handbikeable throughout. A bookable offer was missing completely. With Veit Riffer, we got a practitioner on board. He has been paralyzed from the waist down since a climbing accident and has discovered the handbike for himself. He put the Five Rivers Cycle Path through its paces for us.”
In the result report by Veit Riffer, it turns out that the Five Rivers Cycle Path is basically handbike-compatible, with the exception of a few places. Solutions are found for the few problem areas and a handbike-compatible track is developed. A new bookable offer is now on the market. In addition to accommodation, this also includes luggage and wheelchair transfers from place to place.

The long-distance cycle path is signposted in both directions. It mostly leads on bike paths or farm tracks and only in exceptional cases on roads.
