The comedy that processed the true story became a huge success, although in reality, not everything went as we saw in the film.

Jamaica is not home to snow sports, yet it has a bobsled team; their performance at the 1988 Calgary Winter Games is known worldwide as it was inspired by the 1993 Ice with You! movie. The comedy, starring Doug E. Doug, Leon Robinson, Rawle D. Lewis, Malik Yoba and John Candy, tells the true story of the team with a hint of Hollywood exaggeration.
After more than two decades, the Caribbean is once again conquering the field with its four-man bobsled team, qualifying in three numbers at the Beijing Olympics. Nearly 30 years after the film screening, the mechanics have now met again to recall the set and cheer for the team set off on Friday.
An interview with People magazine revealed the basic idea of the film was so popular that celebrities like Wesley Snipes and Tupac came forward to shape the characters. The film eventually became a success, making its third debut in 1993 and bringing in $ 155 million in revenue from movie theaters.
The Ice is with you! he was able to parade a single known actor, but John Candy didn’t let the film talk about him.
“She was very kind to us. He was very open and didn’t feel like this was his film. This was our movie. And of course the Jamaicans were all proud of the country. What really brought us together was the common goal of representing Jamaica with dignity. ”
Anyway, the film doesn’t follow reality in everything, as the team wasn’t made up of a group of friends, they were actually recruited from the army. Contemporary reports also revealed the Jamaican team gave dinner in Calgary to get enough money to buy a vehicle by selling jerseys, badges and plates.
As we saw in the film, the race didn’t end well, in an accident the boys got stuck under the bob and then left the track disappointed after their release. The scene in which they leave with a bob held over their head is merely the product of the imagination, but contemporary footage shows that they are accompanied by the sympathy of the viewers and reach out to them as the goal marches.
It is noteworthy, however, that they still fought for 14th place at the Lillehammer Winter Olympics in 1994, and later sat in Sochi. They also arrived without equipment, but beyond their own fault.
