The suspect who the police arrested on Monday for involvement in the death of corona patients in the Wilhelmina Hospital Assen is the 30-year-old TV from the municipality of Noordenveld. He worked in several hospitals in the Northern Netherlands.
Several sources confirm this to Dagblad van het Noorden. V. started in October 2019 at the Wilhelmina Hospital (WZA). Before that, he worked for a year at the Martini Hospital and the UMCG. He did an internship at a hospital in Germany. The BIG register, in which healthcare professionals are registered, shows that he never had to appear before the medical disciplinary tribunal.
Corona section in WZA
DVHN reporter Bas van Sluis will join the brand new corona department of the WZA in the first week of April 2020. There he speaks to the then 27-year-old nurse. In the story he describes the meeting.
With his face on a thunderstorm, V. stifled out of the lock of B1. He dumps two sandwiches on the dining room table in the rest room. “This makes me so grumpy,” he says to no one in particular. He is one of four nurses on the evening shift and has seen two patients deteriorate in no time.
Isolated department
The corona patients have been transferred to this department, specially equipped for this purpose and isolated from the rest of the hospital. V. did not have to work in this department, but volunteered to work shifts there, he tells Bas van Sluis at the time.
He specifically signed up for it. “You just do that.” It’s a calling. A soldier does not run when the firefight begins.
Three years later, it is announced that a nurse from the WZA has been arrested in connection with the death of patients in the corona department of the hospital. It concerns 30-year-old V. from Noordenveld.
The story of Bas van Sluis, which used to be on the WZA website, has disappeared.
