According to a survey by Harvard Policy Institute, 30% of young people between the ages of 18 and 29 believe that Donald Trump has been the worst president in the history of the United States. A considerable percentage of disapproval among the young sector of the population.
Only 26%, almost a quarter, of the young people surveyed rated Trump positively. 56% believe that Trump will be judged as bad or terrible and 11% said he will be seen as an “average” president.
Even openly Republican youth are divided over opinion on whether Donald Trump should play a major role in politics in the future.
56% want Trump to remain an active character and “play a key role in the future of Republican politics.” When asked to choose between the Republican party and the former president, 42% of young people chose the party over Trump. About a quarter preferred the businessman over the Republican party and another quarter showed support for both.
Most of these young conservatives support Trump’s unsupported theories about alleged voter fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.
Two-thirds of all young people polled believe that President Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election, but only a quarter of Republican supporters believe in the legitimacy of the voting. 20% of young Republicans believe that Donald Trump won the last presidential election, this figure grows to 35% among Republicans in rural areas.
By contrast, Joe Biden has historic support from America’s youth. The Democrat has the highest youth acceptance rate of any newly elected president since the poll was conducted 20 years ago.
In order to carry out this research, Harvard surveyed 2,513 American residents between the ages of 18 and 29 from March 9-22, 2021. The margin of error is 2.6%.
