30 families demand from the Board one more line in the Polytechnic High School of Seville

Some 30 families attend perplexed at this point in the schooling process at the situation that their sons and daughters are left out of said process, without a place in the Polytechnic IES of Seville or relocation to study the next course their 1st Bachelor of Arts and Humanities. For this reason they have mobilized so that the Delegation of Education and Sports meets their demand, to grant this center another line to locate these students.

From the Escuelas de Calor group they regret that “it seems that Mª José Eslava Nieto manages from her office at the headquarters of the Territorial Delegation of Education and Sports without taking into account the real needs of resources, but with criteria that certainly do not respond to the interest of those who depend on their decisions”.

This is the conclusion reached by the more than 30 families who are at the end of June and having submitted the application in a timely manner for the 2022-23 academic year, with the uncertainty of what will happen to their sons and daughters, if they will be able to or not study the Baccalaureate of Arts and Humanities and Social Sciences that they have requested in the Polytechnic IES.

The demand has been much higher than the supply of places and the delegation, far from promoting a solution, leaves them at risk that some registrations of the admitted students are not formalized at the end of July. In any case, they will not be admitted in their entirety, and they are young people who can see themselves with a lost year and their future paralyzed, awaiting the decision of the Delegation. “Something that could be corrected with the expansion of places in these modalities of Baccalaureate, places that would be available if they had not been cut with the suppression of 2 units of 1st year of baccalaureate and that it is clearly necessary to maintain,” they comment.

“It is curious that an Administration that becomes a champion of the freedom of choice of families to guarantee the existence of places in concerted education, does not put the same effort in defending this freedom when it comes to public education”, they express from the platform to which some of these families belong, who support their claim and demand that “the Education Delegation respond to the demand of these students with the creation of at least half a line in the Polytechnic High School for each modality of the demanded baccalaureates, which would allow these more than 30 families who have requested this center as a priority to see their freedom of choice and that of their sons and daughters guaranteed”.

The collective “Escuelas de Calor” is a platform of families and AMPA independent of political parties, unions, federations or any other organization. It does not have any hierarchy and its only decision-making body is the Assembly. For this reason, the movement has no official spokespersons.
