Indonesian U-20 National Team must accept the fact of being eliminated in the group stage 2023 U-20 Asian Cup. Even so, there were several U-20 national team players who stole the attention in this event.

The U-20 Indonesian national team was unable to compete with Uzbekistan and Iraq in group A. The Garuda Nusantara team lost head to head with Iraq so they failed to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Failure to advance to the knockout phase does not necessarily eliminate the charm of the U-20 national team players. There are at least three surprise players whose performances stand out apart from names like Muhammad Ferarri and Hokky Caraka.

The following are three U-20 Indonesian national team players who have caught the eye at the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup:

Daffa Fasya

Daffa really deserves to be called the U-20 National Team player who shone the most in the U-20 Asian Cup. Even though he is a reserve keeper, Daffa is able to prove his quality in goal.

Daffa actually has the status of coating for Cahya Supriadi. However, Shin Tae Yong made a brave decision to choose Daffa and that trust was paid for with a slick appearance.

Daffa always played in three matches for the U-20 Indonesian National Team. As a result, the Garuda Nusantara goal only conceded two goals from three matches.

Daffa made a number of brilliant saves when he met Iraq, Syria and Uzbekistan. Unfortunately, the slick performance of the young Borneo FC player was not enough to lead the U-20 national team to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Daffa’s good performance has made the competition for the goalkeeper position even more fierce. Cahya now has to work harder to compete for a place in the first team with Daffa towards the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
