JAKARTA, RADARKAUR.CO.ID – The government has launched a new regulation on BBM which will take effect on January 1, 2023.
Right at the start of the year, 3 types of BBM were officially removed. Is it true that the new regulation affects Pertalite, Pertamax and diesel?
Pertalite and Pertamax are fuel oils with an octane rating of RON (90). Meanwhile, starting January 1, 2023, 3 types of BBM will be removed, namely BBM with octane levels RON 87, RON 88 and RON 89.
Meanwhile, diesel is another type of fuel because the octane number in diesel fuel is called the cetane number (CN). Diesel fuel has an octane number of CN 45 as a sign of the quality of combustion in the engine room.

Comparison of octane levels (RON) pushes the position of Pertalite and Pertamax in the new BBM regulations.
Therefore, the 3 types of BBMs that have been removed will stop selling as of January 1, 2023 in all Indonesian gas stations, both privately owned and owned by Pertamina.
This new fuel regulation was issued on the basis of the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) n. 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022.
In the decree, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources referred to the prohibition of the new BBM rules relating to the sale of 3 types of BBM starting from 1 January 2023.

The goal of eliminating BBM below RON 90 is an effort to improve the standard and quality of BBM sales in the country following the policy of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.
So, 3 types of BBM below RON (90), namely Premium and Revvo 89, are mentioned in the new BBM regulations effective from 1 January 2023.
