Among the items put up for sale by the Ministry of Commerce through e-tendering, sports shoes in the “Collectible sports equipment” category attracted attention.

Three pairs of sneakers, reportedly bearing the name of Michael Jordan, one of the legendary names of the American Basketball League (NBA), were put out for bid on April 15.

The sale price of 3 pairs of sneakers in Liquidation Warehouse No. 2 belonging to the Directorate of Mersin (TİM) of the Ministry of Trade to be confirmed as 5 million lira.

The offer ended on April 19. However, no bids were made for the shoes during the bidding period.

With that, the Ministry put the shoes out for tender again on the same day. No bidders have been placed on the shoes in the tender yet, where the bidding process is still ongoing and a guarantee fee of 100 thousand liras is required.

The Ministry of Commerce said that the sneakers brought to customs by legal entities or natural persons were kept in the warehouse because customs clearance was not done in accordance with the legislation, and at the end of the legal period, the start a liquidation process and put it out to tender for sale.

The offer statement said:
“3 Michael Jordan signed basketball shoes. The product is in a pending state. The product is offered for sale as is. The information about the product in the system is informative. Bidders are to be entered in the system on which it will be viewed and checked. , the buyer will be responsible for any permits or documents required to place, use or register the goods/vehicles on the market, and the buyer will meet the responsibilities and obligations all financial related to them.”

Jordan’s game-winning shoe was sold for 2.2 million dollars at the auction held at Sotheby’s Auction House in New York.

This sneaker, worn by Jordan in 1998, became the most expensive sneaker ever sold for $2.2 million.

Another sneaker that Jordan wore early in his career was sold for 1.47 million dollars at auction in 2021.
