3 Scenarios of the Russia vs Ukraine War Could End

Russia have invaded Ukraine for a year starting from February 24, 2022. However, until now there has been no sign of the war ending. On the territory of eastern Ukraine even fierce fighting took place.

Russian troops attempted to overrun Bakhmut, but Ukrainian troops continued to fight back. Several parties could not say for sure when the war would end. However, some observers believe that the war may end under certain conditions.

The following is a series of scenarios that could end the war between Russia and Ukraine.

1. Peace negotiations

Russia and Ukraine had several negotiations. However, this step did not reap results. The war continues to rage and casualties fall.

In a special interview CNNIndonesia.com with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Indonesia Vasyl Hamianin said negotiations could take place if Russian troops left the country.

“As long as Russian troops are in Ukraine no negotiations are possible. [Kecuali Rusia] withdraw troops, we can talk,” said Vasyl, Tuesday (21/2).

Radityo Dharmaputro, an observer on international relations from Airlangga University, assessed that the negotiations would take place if Ukraine succeeded in pushing back Russia.

“The supply of weapons from the West, especially tanks, can cause Russia to be beaten back,” said Radityo on (18/1).

Later, a number of Western countries, including the United States and Germany, will be busy sending tanks to Ukraine to help them fight Russian troops.

On the other hand, Russia is reluctant to back down because doing so would embarrass the government and trigger domestic turmoil.

Meanwhile, an observer from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Waffaa Kharisma, has her own views.

“Peace negotiations occur when the war is so exhausting and exhausts both sides or one of the parties wins a landslide victory and the end and goals of the war are achieved.” he said.

He then said, “This party is in control [soal] the rules of victory and resolution of the results of peaceful negotiations.”

Waffaa then underlined that if new peace negotiations were created because both parties were tired, then the aid of weapons could actually help.
