A shopping mall and two hotels in the port city of Odesa, Ukraine the south, hit by a missile attack Russia. It was reported that at least three new Russian-made hypersonic missiles hit the public infrastructure.
As reported CNNTuesday (10/5/2022), regional military authority spokesman OdessaSergey Bratchuk, said that the three Kinzhal missiles — Russia’s newest hypersonic missile — fired from an airplane and hit a ‘tourism infrastructure target’.
The attack was reported to have occurred on Monday (9/5) local time.
Bratchuk said two people had to be hospitalized as a result of the Russian missile attack. However, the condition of the injuries suffered by the two people was not further explained.
In his statement, Bratchuk did not specifically identify the target of the attack. However CNN has geolocated and verified the authenticity of two videos circulating on social media, which show significant damage to a hotel in the village of Zatoka.
One of the videos was even first released by the Odesa City Council itself.
This is the second hotel in the Odesa area to be hit by an attack on Monday (9/5) local time. It is not clear why the two hotels were attacked, or how many people were staying inside the hotel at the time of the attack.
According to the Southern Operations Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a shopping center was also hit by seven missiles. Five people were reportedly injured and one person died in the attack.
