Although Disney+ is a platform dedicated to making, mostly, content for a children’s audience, It also houses a selection of romantic films. Although they are not its specialty, the platform has managed to bring together some gems of the genre that are perfect to close the year 2023 on a note of love and laughter.
“Tangled” (2010)
This charming Disney animated film is a modern adaptation of the classic fairy tale “Rapunzel.” The story follows Rapunzel, a young girl with magical hair, who longs to escape her tower. Everything changes when she meets Flynn Rider, a charming thief. Together they embark on an action-packed adventure, comedy and, of course, romance. The chemistry between the characters and the musical scenes make this film a romantic and fun delight.

“The Proposal” (2009)
Starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, “The Proposal” stands out for its humor and the somewhat unusual story of the two characters. Bullock plays Margaret Tate, a successful and feared editor who faces deportation to her native Canada. In a desperate attempt, Margaret asks her assistant, Andrew (Reynolds), to marry her.
What follows is a series of comedic and romantic events that occur during a weekend with Andrew’s family in Alaska.

“10 Things I Hate About You” (1999)
This late ’90s classic is a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Set in an American high school, the film follows the Stratford sisters: Kat (Julia Stiles), a young, independent feminist, and Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), who longs to date boys. However, her father has a strict rule: Bianca can only go out if Kat does too.
The film also stars Heath Ledger, in one of his most iconic characters as Patrick Verona, the young man who tries to win over Kat.
