Why the iPhone 12 Pro will be the best iPhone of this year in my eyes
The iPhone family is getting no fewer than four new members this year. Apple is releasing four iPhone models for the first time this year: the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro in iPhone 12 Pro Max.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max seems a bit on the large side with a 6.7-inch screen, but the expectations of the high-end iPhone 12 Pro have fueled my enthusiasm. These are the three main reasons.
1. Improved camera with LiDAR sensor
The biggest reason why I choose the iPhone 12 Pro is the camera. Like the iPhone 11 Pro, the 12 Pro gets three camera lenses. However, there is now one more LiDAR-sensor added to. The sensor made its appearance when the iPad Pro 2020 was released and allows the camera to accurately measure the distance between the device and an object or person.
This sensor therefore estimates depth very precisely, which significantly improves the quality of the Portrait mode. At the iPhone 11 Pro In Portrait mode, there are sometimes blurry places where they don’t belong. I hope this is a thing of the past thanks to the LiDAR sensor.
In addition, the sensor ensures that augmented reality (AR) apps work extra well with the iPhone 12. As AR is increasingly used, the technology of the iPhone 12 in this respect will last for years to come.
2. Bigger and improved screen
Also interesting is the large screen of the Pro variant. The 6.1-inch display is larger than the 5.8-inch screen of its predecessor, the iPhone 11 Pro. Still, the device itself is not expected to be much larger, but Apple manages to reduce the screen edges.
If the Cupertino company also throws a ProMotion screen into the mix, it cannot be broken figuratively speaking. Current iPhones have a refresh rate of 60 frames per second, but a ProMotion display would double that. Yet that remains the question. Expectations differ: there are also sources that claim that the iPhone 12 (Pro) will ‘just’ get a 60Hz display.

3. Possible 5G support
If there is one new iPhone to support 5G, it will undoubtedly be the iPhone 12 Pro. In addition to the camera, that is also an important reason why I would choose this iPhone of the four devices in 2020.
However, it remains unclear whether this is the case. One source claims that all four devices will receive 5G support, others indicate that Apple will release two versions (with and without 5G), while others claim that the company will switch to 5G later.

We probably don’t have to wait for the new iPhones for a very long time. According to leaked information, Apple would release a Organize iPhone 12 event on October 13, where the four devices are finally presented.
If all devices go on sale at the same time, the pre-order will then start on October 16 and the first copies will be delivered a week later. According to rumors, the new iPhone 12 Pro will be in the store from 1159 euros.
