The team Taliban raided a police compound in the port city of Karachi, Pakistan. As a result of the attack, 3 policemen and 1 janitor were reportedly killed.

Reported by AFP, Saturday (18/2/2023), a shootout occurred when the group Taliban attacked a police compound in the port city of Karachi. The Pakistani Taliban said its fighters stormed the heavily fortified compound.

“Four people were killed in the attack, including two policemen, a ranger and a cleaner,” Sindh government spokesman Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui told AFP, adding 14 others were injured.

In addition to these four people, 3 people from the Taliban group were also reported killed.

“The operation has ended with the killing of the three terrorists,” he said.

A spokesman for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility in a WhatsApp message to AFP.

“Our Mujahideen martyrs have attacked the Karachi Police Station. More details are coming soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Rana Sanaullah, said the attackers were armed with grenades and rockets. They, he said, even opened fire on the gates of the police complex with rockets.

“The terrorists were armed with grenades and other weapons and they fired at the gate with rockets,” he said.

Moreover, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed Friday to end the violence. He emphasized that he would kill the terrorists by bringing them to justice.

“Pakistan will not only uproot terrorism, but will also kill the terrorists by bringing them to justice,” he tweeted.

“This great nation is determined to end this evil forever,” he continued.
