Las Palmas (Spain) ∙ Authorities hospitalized 3 migrants who arrived in the Canaries after an 11-day sea voyage from Nigeria while sitting on the rudder outside an oil tanker. They covered 2700 nautical miles (about 5,000 km). One of the three is in critical condition.
The rudder is the part above the propeller that touches the water. The Spanish Coast Guard released the photo of the three people present here. As soon as they leave the hospital, they will be sent back to their homeland, Spanish authorities have said.
