Suceava Directorate of Public Health (DSP) announced on August 19, that 3 cases of West Nile virus meningitis were confirmed. The people who have been diagnosed are between 81 and 88 and are from Fântânele, Suceava and Bosanci.
“So far, we have 3 confirmed cases of West Nile virus infection. Patients aged 81, 83 and 88 who presented with fever, headache, confusion syndrome were diagnosed with meningitis, and in that case the pathogen was identified. puncture with a collection of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
DSP Suceava wants the town halls to take measures
After CSF analysis, West Nile virus was identified in all 3 patients. The 81-year-old patient had a favorable evolution and was discharged on 17.08, the 83-year-old patient with other comorbidities died, unfortunately, during the day yesterday due to growth worse of the associated pathologies, and the 88-year-old patient had an unfavorable evolution in the hospital on 29.07 with the general condition worsening and his transfer to ATI on 01.08, because his condition is still serious”, the representatives of DSP Suceava informed.
DSP Suceava asked the 3 town halls to take measures for disinfection. Also, the Suceava Prefect Institute, the Suceava Transplant Center, were told to take additional measures to check blood from donors, as well as the Suceava County Hospital to carry out additional checks for transfusion procedures.
