3 People Arrested after Demanding State Responsibilities for PPKM

Three people suspected of spreading false information alias hoaks related to calls for action against the government to provide welfare solutions during the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) Emergency in Central Java.

“The Banyumas Police have followed up on the hoax news and have arrested the alleged perpetrators of criminal acts who by broadcasting false news or notifications, deliberately publishing trouble among the people,” Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Iqbal Alqudusy when confirmed, Monday (19/7).

The call for action made by them reads: ‘BANYUMAS COMMUNITY ALLIANCE with KBPPB (Banyumas Market Traders Family) MOVES TO DEMAND JUSTICE ABOUT PPKM!!! MONDAY, 19 JULY 2021 STRENGTH POINT OF BANYUMAS REGENCY AT 13.00 UNTIL THE DEMANDS FULFILL!!! PEOPLE’S WELFARE IS THE STATE’S RESPONSIBILITY!!!’.

According to him, the content is spread across various social media platforms. The three people who were detained had the initials FS (27), C (46) and S alias D (34).

“Then the officers conducted an investigation into the Facebook account,” he said.

According to Iqbal, the three people were annoyed with the implementation of the Java-Bali Emergency PPKM policy. Thus, they spread calls and invitations to reject the policy.

Initially, the appeal was shared between his two Facebook groups so that the protest action could be held today.

“Which one concerned could not work because his workplace was closed, which he later found out that the Java-Bali emergency PPKM would be extended,” he said.

The three are currently suspected of violating Article 14 paragraphs (1) and (2) in conjunction with Article 15 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Code.

Emergency PPKM is a government policy in dealing with the current spread of Covid-19. People are limited in their mobility and movement.

This policy has been in effect since July 3 and will end on July 20, 2021. However, there has been no official announcement from the Indonesian government regarding the extension or not.

However, a number of experts and politicians have asked for an improvement in the mechanism in the Emergency PPKM which is more flexible and pays attention to the fulfillment of citizens’ food according to the Health Quarantine Law.
