Player injury problems experienced Manchester United ahead final Carabao Cup 2023 against Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium, London, Sunday (26/2).
Erik Ten Hag is certain to lose three star players when MU against Newcastle United. The three players are Christian Eriksen, Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial.
Eriksen suffered an ankle injury against Reading due to a tackle by Andy Carroll. It is predicted that the player from Denmark will return to strengthen Man Utd in April.
Van de Beek is confirmed to be out until the end of this season due to a knee injury he suffered against Bournemouth. Meanwhile Martial has suffered a hip injury and was unable to recover in time to face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.
Not only these three players, Ten Hag is also in danger of not being able to play Marcus Rashford when MU vs Newcastle in the 2023 Carabao Cup final.
Rashford suffered an ankle injury after being tackled by Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo in the second leg of the Europa League playoff. The England international striker was then forced off in the 88th minute.
“I don’t know. It’s difficult to be sure after the game, so we have to wait for a 100 per cent analysis. Let the medical team work and we have to wait,” Ten Hag said of Rashford’s chances of playing in the Carabao Cup final.
Rashford is United’s best player this season. The 25-year-old striker has scored 16 goals in his last 18 appearances for Manchester United. In total Rashford has scored 24 goals in all competitions this season.
On the other hand, Newcastle United lost two mainstay goalkeepers. Newcastle had to play a third goalkeeper, Loris Karius, after Nick Pope was suspended and second goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has strengthened MU in the Carabao Cup this season.
