The Government confirmed this morning that next week they will arrive in the country another 3 million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine made in China. It will be the second shipment that will arrive from Beijing after the first shipment of 1 million that has already begun to be applied to teaching personnel.
This development for now has only been approved to be applied in the population between 18 and 59 years old, so it is not used in older adults.
President Alberto Fernández had anticipated last Monday in a television interview that a new agreement with Sinopharm was imminent. He also reported in that report that it had been possible “with the Russian Federation to set a delivery schedule that allows us to have vaccines every week.”
And he added that “we have purchased three million additional vaccines from Sinopharm. It is assumed that in March they would have to be entering, in which March 580 thousand doses of Astrazeneca remain ”.
The President also expressed that before winter “my wish was to reach the 13 million people who are vaccinated at risk people and I aspire that this can be accomplished as soon as possible.”
Regarding non-compliance in deliveries, the president said on that occasion that “I announced what the contract says, what happens is that someone breached the contract. I can understand that non-compliance, many believed they could scale in production and they did not achieve it. And Argentina is among the countries that continue to receive vaccines. For me it is an obsession that everyone gets vaccinated. I will continue working for that. If the Russian Federation can comply with the last thing that we have agreed that a significant number of vaccines arrive weekly to continue escalating in vaccination, and Astrazeneca arrives, we will be very calm ”.
