Indonesia’s efforts to win medals, especially gold, in the branch Badminton Tokyo 2020 Olympics now focused on three representatives.
There are seven representatives of the Red and White who managed to qualify for the Olympics this time. They are Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie (men’s singles), Gregoria Mariska Tunjung (women’s singles), Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan (men’s doubles), Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu (women’s doubles) and Praveen Jordan/Jasmine Daeva Oktavianti (mixed doubles).
Of these names, four of them have been excluded. The first is Praven/Jasmine, which was defeated by the Chinese pair Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong, Wednesday (28/7) yesterday.
Meanwhile, on Thursday (29/7), there were three representatives of the Red and White who fell. Gregoria Mariska had to admit the advantage of Ratchanok Intanon, Kevin/Marcus were surprised by Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, and then Jojo’s defeat to Shi Yu Qi.
With these results, Indonesia’s efforts to gain medals Tokyo 2020 Olympics via branch Badminton practically relies on the three remaining representatives, namely Anthony Ginting, Hendra/Ahsan, and Greysia/Apriyani.
In an effort to hunt for medals, Indonesia’s mainstay badminton players must of course be able to beat tough opponents who are waiting for them. In the men’s singles number, for example, Anthony Ginting (ranked 5th in the world) is waiting for Anders Antonsen from Denmark, who is now ranked third in the world. They will duel in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile Hendra/Ahsan will undergo a duel in the semifinals against Taiwan’s Lee Yang/Wang Chi-lin men’s doubles. In the world rankings, Hendra/Ahsan are in second place or one position above their opponent.
