3 Indonesian Men Went to Mecca by Bike, Now Arriving in Malaysia

3 men from Indonesia went to mecca, Saudi Arabia, by bicycle. They will pass through a number of countries from Malaysia, Thailand, to Pakistan.

Reported Between, the three are Andi Harvin (27), Chairul Ma’atini (27), and Muhammad Fauzan (28). Andi and Chairul departed from Gorontalo since June 2021, while Fauzan from Magelang since November 2021.

The trio arrived in Malaysia on 27 April 2022, having previously been in Singapore for 1 month. The three also met with the Indonesian Ambassador in Kuala Lumpur, Hermono.

Andi said that armed with his experience as a member of Mapala Benua at the State University of Gorontalo, he ventured to go to Mecca by bicycle.

Along the way, the three of them sold t-shirts that read ‘Muslim Youth Journey’ to stock up on supplies. They also had time to spend the night in the homes of local residents.

The three men celebrated Eid in one of the villages in the oil palm plantation area in Kota Ruam, Malaysia, for 3 days. Along the way, the three of them often communicate with the international bicycle community in their local country to get references for cross-country bicycle routes.

Hermono as the Indonesian Ambassador in Kuala Lumpur had a chance to stay in touch with the three. He expressed his support and enthusiasm for the three.

Hermono also reminded the three of them to establish communication with the Indonesian Embassy/KJRI in order to prepare sufficient information regarding COVID-19 health protocol policies in various countries.

It is known, the three men were able to cover 120 km per day. The weight of the stock on the bicycle reaches 40-50 Kg.

During the fasting month, they choose to cycle at night. And decided to rest during the day.

The plan, today they will continue their trip to Thailand. Then proceed to Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Iran, United Arab Emirates to Saudi Arabia.
