3 Hispanics killed by falling scaffolding in Charlotte, North Carolina

On January 2, José Canaca (Honduras), Gilberto Mónico Fernández (Mexican) and Jesús Olivares (Veracruz), three Hispanics who emigrated to the United States and worked in construction, died.

In addition, two other workers were injured and taken to the nearest hospital for tests.

The three migrants lost their lives when the scaffolding they were working on collapsed from the eighth floor of the building located in the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina, according to local firefighters.

Charlotte Fire Captain Jackie Gilmore told reporters the incident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. Monday.

Work has been suspended so that the Department for Occupational Safety and Health can carry out on-site assessments.

It was also known that this building is located in a luxurious place and will house the elderly from the autumn of this year.

Some of the relatives of the victims are raising funds to carry out the related funeral services.
