In a collision after a police chase, three people were killed this afternoon on the E19 in Vilvoorde on the driveway towards Brussels, the federal police confirms to VRT NWS.
The chase is said to have started when the local police of Zaventem was called up for a burglary in Nossegem. The fleeing vehicle of the suspected burglars took flight and drove on the E19 to Antwerp in Machelen, but in the wrong direction, and collided head-on with a van when the escapees in Vilvoorde wanted to use the ramp as an exit. The driver of the van suffered only minor injuries, but the three occupants of the escape vehicle did not survive the blow.
