3 Explosions Happen in Afghanistan, Taliban Become Targets

At least two people died in three explosions on Saturday (18/9) in Jalalabad, an eastern city Afghanistan. This was the first lethal attack since the United States army left, one of which targeted a vehicle Taliban.

“In one attack, a Taliban patrol vehicle in Jalalabad was targeted,” a Taliban official said AFP.

The official also said women and children were injured in the blast.

Officials from the Nangarhar provincial health department said three people were killed and 18 injured. Meanwhile, several local media reported that the explosion had killed two people.

according to AFP photos at the scene showed a green pickup with the Taliban flag shrouded in rubble as armed forces approached.

Jalalabad is the capital of Nangarhar which is the heartland of the Islamic State group in Afghanistan.

The Taliban, who have controlled Afghanistan since mid-August, have ousted the government and pledged to maintain security. Since the US troops left on August 30th, no major incidents have occurred.

The bombings came as the Taliban began allowing male students and teachers to return to school in Afghanistan. Meanwhile there was no statement for female students and teachers.
