The matches of the fourth round of the African Champions League will start from Friday, when some of the teams that qualify for the next round are expected to be determined.
It is scheduled to hold 8 games that will be divided on Friday and Saturday, as the qualifying teams may be determined in three groups.
Zamalek Group
In Group One, Congolese Mazembe is on a steady streak towards qualifying for the quarter-finals of the continental championship due to the impressive results.
The Congo champion managed to collect seven points out of nine in the first three rounds after defeating Zamalek and Zambian ZESCO United and a draw against Primero de Augusto Angola.
The fourth stage will witness the reception of the champion Mazembe of the Congo and in the event of victory, Mazembe will not be officially guaranteed to qualify for the next round except in one case, which is Zamalek’s victory or draw against ZESCO.
Mazembe leads the standings with seven points, followed by Zamalek with four points, then ZESCO and Primero two points.
An easy road to the Sundowns
In Group C, the South African Sundowns have the opportunity to qualify early without looking at the results of competitors.
Sundowns will face Algeria’s Al-Ittihad in South Africa, and in the event of a victory, the South African champion will ensure the last eight.
The Sundowns topped the standings with seven points, followed by Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca with five points, then Union of Algeria with two points, and Petro Atletico of the Angolan ranked the group with one point.
– The hero and the chance to qualify
Despite stumbling in Tunisia in the last round, Esperance still has the opportunity to qualify early as the “Blood and Gold” team tops the standings with seven points.
Esperance will take the next round to Congo to face the Vita Club, which got its first point after a draw against the continent’s champion in the last two negative versions of the last round.
In the event that Esperance wins with the Moroccan Raja Casablanca, against Algerian JS Kabylie, the Tunisian champion will officially qualify for the next round.
Esperance tops the standings with seven points, followed by each of Moroccan Raja Casablanca with six points, then JS Kabylie with three points, and Vita Club is in the last ranking with one point.
