3 Asteroids Watched Move Closer to Earth on Valentine’s Day

According to research from the Davidson Institute of Science, part of Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science education, an asteroid more than 140 meters wide would release an amount of energy at least a thousand times greater than the energy released by the first atomic bomb if it hit Earth.

Something bigger – more than 300 meters wide like the asteroid Apophis – could destroy an entire continent.

An asteroid more than a kilometer wide can trigger a worldwide catastrophe.

However, the three asteroids that will head to Earth on Valentine’s Day are not that big.

The first to arrive, 2022 CF3, is estimated by NASA to be at most 47 meters wide. In comparison, it is roughly the size of the Arc de Triomphe, a monument in Paris, the capital of romance.

Meanwhile, others are smaller in size. Furthermore, neither of them will come close, with the closest being 2022 CF3, which will pass Earth by about 2.45 million kilometers. In comparison, the Moon maintains a distance of about 384,000 kilometers from Earth.
