South Sinai – Reda El Sayed:
Today, Saturday evening, the city of El-Tur in South Sinai was hit by an earthquake measuring 3.85 on the Richter scale.
For its part, the Operations and Crisis Management Center in the governorate’s general office stated that it had received a notification from the National Seismological Network stating that an earthquake occurred 33 kilometers southwest of the city of Al-Tur.
The Operations Center confirmed that the earthquake did not result in any loss of life or private or public property, and the maximum state of emergency was lifted in anticipation of the occurrence of other tremors, especially since the city was recently subjected to two strong earthquakes at close intervals.
In the context, some residents commented in the area located in the vicinity of Mount Sinai, stressing that they did not feel the earthquake.
The National Institute for Astronomical Research issued a statement about the earthquake, explaining that it occurred 33 kilometers southwest of the city of Mount Sinai, and its epicenter is in Jabal al-Zayt, southwest of the Gulf of Suez in the Red Sea, with a length of 33.40 east and a depth of 20.24 kilometers.
