3.6 seconds to a hundred – BMW offers the powerful M5 Touring for 146,000 euros (+ PHOTO)

German media claim that the BMW M5 Touring is the world’s most powerful production station wagon with an internal combustion engine.

In November, the world’s most powerful production station wagon with an internal combustion engine will enter the market. This is the new BMW M5 Touring, equipped with a plug-in hybrid unit, combining a 4.4-liter 585 hp V8 and a 145 kW (197 hp) electric motor.

The total power of the system is 727 hp and 1000 Nm, which allows the 2556 kg station wagon to accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. The manufacturer limits the maximum speed to 250 km / h, but with the purchase of the M Driver’s Package it rises to 305 km / h.

The BMW M5 Touring features all-wheel drive, sports differential, quick start and Boost functions, among others. The 18.6 kWh battery provides a typical range of 61 to 67 kilometers in full electric mode at a speed of up to 140 km/h. The battery can be charged with a maximum power of 11 kW, taking 2.15 hours for a full charge from 0-100%.

The length of the M5 Touring is 5,096 mm and there is a luggage compartment between 500 and 1,630 litres. The station wagon can tow a trailer weighing up to 2,000 kg and use the roof rack, adding another 100 kg of cargo this way. Standard equipment includes 4-zone climate control, Bowers&Wilkins sound system with 18 speakers, sports steering wheel with M button and gear shift paddles, Curved Display with combined 12.3 and 14.9 inch screens, pre-display evaluation with M specification graphics. The set also includes powerful M Compound brakes (25 kg lighter ceramic brakes for an additional cost) and for the first time – a rear axle with a steering angle of up to 1.5 degrees.

The vehicle will be manufactured in Dingolfing, Germany and will hit the market in November. In order to be able to buy the world’s most powerful production station wagon with an internal combustion engine, you need to save up to 146,000 euros.
