The man pretended to be a woman on social media. With his fake account he managed to persuade dozens of people to send sexually tinted images. He then threatened to share those images with acquaintances of the victim, if no money was transferred to him. In many cases he succeeded. This form of extortion is also known as ‘sextortion’.
He has been convicted of fraud, sextortion, identity theft, making and possessing child pornography and money laundering. He was sentenced to a total of 42 months in prison, of which 12 months were suspended. He also has to pay a total of 50,000 euros in damages to twelve victims.
