3.5 years in prison and a financial sentence for forced prostitution

The court in Amsterdam ruled that this week.

The man met the woman in a bar in Romania in 2014. She had few financial resources and was in a custody battle over her son with her ex-partner. He promised to help her and envisioned her a common future, but has since married another woman in 2017 with whom he had two children.

The violence was not systematic, but the man asked the woman for more and more money. At first, that was about one hundred to two hundred euros a day. Later that increased to three hundred to four hundred euros.

Although it is difficult to determine how much money the man withheld, the judge ruled that the woman should get 151,900 euros back. An additional 10,000 euros in immaterial damage is added.
