Restaurants, bars, wine “cellar”, swimming pool or tennis court. And of course a different view every day – whether the sea or the new picturesque harbor. At least according to the Norwegian shipyard Vard, this is what the future of housing looks like. You just pay extra for it. That is, if you get the opportunity at all.
The company has started building the Somnio yacht, which will house 39 housing units, according to two Swedish companies. Their sale has already started and the cheapest of them will cost eleven million dollars (237 million crowns). However, it is sold only to recommended or invited interested parties.
The vessel, the production of which will require $ 600 million (8.6 billion crowns), will be 222 meters long and the apartments will be arranged on six floors.
The yacht should set sail in 2024, the annual route must always be jointly agreed by the apartment owners. The promotional material talks about a week in New York or an expedition to Antarctica.
The co-founder of the project is Captain Erik Bredhe, who described Somnio as “the world’s largest yacht in terms of length and volume, which will provide apartment owners with the best possible quality of life at sea.”
The creators claim that the super-yacht will provide an opportunity to “stay away from pandemics and other risky situations” and that first-class health care will be available on it. Somnia’s primary purpose will be to provide housing, but the vessel should also be available to professionals studying life in the sea and oceans.
Today, The World’s largest residential yacht is 196 meters long. It has been anchored during the pandemic and is due to set sail again this month.
