2nd stage of federal funding for efficient buildings

From July 1, KfW will be promoting energy-efficient new buildings and full refurbishments to the efficiency house level within the framework of the BEG WG with grants of up to 37,500 or 75,000 euros per residential unit. This means that building owners and modernizers have access to higher grants and loans that create incentives for investments in renewable energies and energy efficiency.

BioLPG is recognized in the Building Energy Act (GEG) and helps to achieve efficiency house standards. This opens up additional opportunities for building owners to meet the requirements for federal funding for efficient buildings (BEG). In addition to the building and heating technology factors, you will receive another component with which you can receive the funding, which was improved on July 1st, even more easily.

“The framework conditions for the funding have never been better than now,” confirms Martin Kutschka from febis, the funding service partner of the Krefeld liquid gas supplier Primagas. He has been helping builders and modernizers with their applications for many years and knows: “With BioLPG, it will now be even easier to achieve efficiency house standards.”

The combination of biogenic liquid gas and gas condensing boiler is particularly attractive for builders in rural areas where there is no connection to the natural gas network. Like conventional liquid gas, BioLPG is even permitted in water protection areas because it burns with almost no residue. This creates significantly less CO2 than oil – which is why biogenic liquefied gas is an alternative with prospects, especially in rural areas.

The BEG WG promotes new construction and full renovation

Whether single, multi-family or apartment buildings: In the BEG sub-program BEG WG, KfW-Förderbank offers building owners who are building new or fully refurbishing their residential building in an energy-efficient manner, either a grant or a loan with a repayment grant. Necessary investment costs of up to 120,000 euros per residential unit can be taken into account for funding. The BEG funding amounts to a maximum of 25 percent for new buildings and a maximum of 45 percent for full renovations. For the construction of KfW efficiency houses, more than 55 percent of which are heated by renewable energies, even 150,000 euros per residential unit can be set. The subsidy and repayment subsidy are also increased by a “renewable energy bonus” of 2.5 percent (new construction) and 5 percent (renovation). Building owners can thus receive BEG funding of up to 75,000 euros per residential unit if they choose a gas condensing boiler combined with biogenic liquefied gas in order to achieve an efficiency house standard.

The BEG EM sub-program supports individual measures

The BEG EM sub-program (individual measures) applies to individual modernization measures. Here the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) has been promoting renewable energies for heating systems since January 1st with grants of up to 45 percent. Now the loan offer from the KfW development bank is added: Instead of the subsidy from BAFA, modernizers can now opt for a loan with a repayment subsidy of the same amount. The possible loan amount was increased from 50,000 to 60,000 euros per residential unit on July 1, and the repayment subsidies, analogous to the subsidies, were increased to up to 45 percent. For example, BEG EM is promoting the replacement of old heating systems with gas hybrid heating systems with 30 percent. Apart from the natural gas networks, the use of liquefied gas is an option in order to meet the funding requirements.
