SC Austria Lustenau returns to the Austrian Bundesliga after 22 years!
In the 29th round of the Admiral 2nd league, Vorarlberg benefited from FAC Vienna’s slip-up (More >>>) and thanks to their own 2-1 away win at SV Horn they are crowned champions one game day before the end of the season.
The Lustenauers take the lead in the Waldviertel after a little less than half an hour: Anderson shakes off his opponent and brings the ball to the middle, where Julian Klar acts unluckily and the ball slips into his own goal (26th).
Horn plays well in the first half, but it becomes more dangerous on the other side, where Pascal Macher saves against Michael Cheukoua, who is ready to score, and Fabian Ehmann is on the spot when Jean Hugonet shoots from long range.
Immediately after the restart, however, the equalizer: Burak Yilmaz takes a free kick and sinks it wonderfully (51.). The Waldviertler stay tuned, but Okan Yilmaz can’t get the ball past Domenik Schierl.
Second own goal brings decision
Just a little later, Lustenau was celebrating again: Substitute Bryan Silva Teixeira dribbled his way into the sixteen and shot Paul Gobara – the second Horn own goal made it 2-1 for Austria Lustenau (65′).
The rest of the season is very open. While Haris Tabakovic fails at Ehmann from close range, Schierl parries against Albin Gashi on the other side.
Muhammed Cham, Nicolai Bösch and Haris Tabakovic missed the decisive 3:1 shortly before the end, but in the end the Vorarlbergers saved the narrow result over time.
Austria Lustenau (67 points) can no longer be relegated from first place with one matchday to go before the end of the season. FAC is second and five points behind. Horn is ranked 13th (28 points).
