2nd Edition of Women of the World of Music: Concert Spotlighting Women Composers

They are few in number and often unknown. Women composers, whose works are only performed in 5% of classical music concerts scheduled around the world, will be in the spotlight next Tuesday March 12, during the 2nd edition of “Women of the World of Music”, organized by the United Nations Symphony Orchestra and the cultural diplomacy group United Voices 4 Peace.

This unique concert, planned to mark the 68th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and International Women’s Day, will be led by the famous conductor Amy Andersson – also a pianist and singer – , winner of a Grammy award for “Women Warriors: the Voices of Change”.

The program is, like last year, of great musical richness: Kayla McIntyre “Sweeping Cities” (United States); Germaine Franco “Margarita’s Theme” and “Tango de las Mujeres” (Mexico/United States); Esin Aydingöz “The Romantic Rollercoaster” (Türkiye); Augusta Holmès “Interlude-Night and Love from Ludus Pro Patria” (France/United Kingdom); Amy Andersson “They are not Forgotten” (Austria/United States); Shruti Rajasekar “Freely Mohin” (India); Shao Jean Sim “Elegy” (Singapore); Amy Beach “Gaelic Symphony in E minor” and “Allegro con fuoco” (United States).
