Berlin – The Berlin Senate will advise on Tuesday on how to proceed in the corona pandemic in view of the strong spread of the Omikron virus variant. The results are to be published at noon. It can be assumed that the Senate will now implement the stricter access rules for gastronomy agreed by the federal and state governments in the previous week at state level: In future, only those who have been boosted or have been vaccinated twice with a daily test will have access to restaurants, pubs or cafés. The Senate also wants to anchor the simplified quarantine rules, which the federal and state governments have agreed on, in state law.
A tightening of the mask requirement could also be resolved: The governing mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) and health senator Ulrike Gote (Greens) had recently advertised that FFP2 masks should be prescribed in buses and trains or in retail alone. These would offer more protection than simpler surgical masks, which are currently still allowed in addition to FFP2 masks. The federal and state governments did not have an FFP2 obligation, but decided on an urgent recommendation that only such masks should be worn when shopping or on public transport. So that would be a step beyond the federal-state resolutions.
Report: From ten people 2G applies everywhere in Berlin, vaccination pass also works in the same way
As the Berliner Morgenpost reports in advance, there will be tightening for smaller events: 2G is mandatory everywhere from ten people, so unvaccinated people no longer have access.
As the newspaper continues, Berliners will in future be able to submit their vaccination certificate in an analogous form. Because there are people who cannot cope with the digital proof on their mobile phones. And: In smaller shops, the 2G rule no longer needs to be checked before loading. The inspection can also take place in the store.
The new quarantine rules are intended to help ensure that the critical infrastructure remains operational, even when there are high numbers of infections. These include, for example, the health service, police and fire brigade, energy and water suppliers.
Gote wants to make the complicated quarantine rule simple
Contact persons of people infected with corona will in future be exempted from quarantine if they have a booster, have been newly vaccinated twice, have been vaccinated and have recovered or have recently recovered. A period of up to three months is considered “fresh”. For everyone else, isolation or quarantine should generally end after ten days if they do not allow themselves to be “tested” beforehand. That works after seven days
Brandenburg: New corona rules should come into force on January 20
According to the plans of the red-black-green state government, the new corona rules for Brandenburg should come into force on January 20 at the latest. The cabinet will discuss the agreements between the federal and state governments on Tuesday (January 11), government spokesman Florian Engels said on Monday. A resolution is planned for January 18th.
Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) announced on Friday after a federal-state round that the 2G-plus rule would be introduced in restaurants, bars and pubs. The 2G rule currently applies there. In the future, those who have been vaccinated or have recovered will have to prove a negative corona test on the same day if they do not have a booster vaccination.
The quarantine for contact persons and the isolation for infected people are to be shortened so that, for example, hospitals do not collapse in the event of the rapid spread of the Omikron variant. The contact restrictions remain in place. According to the Ministry of Health, the cabinet will also discuss expanding the FFP2 mask requirement on Tuesday. (with dpa)
