2G, 3G +, full capacity and Co .: Which corona rules currently apply in the Bundesliga stadiums

The corona situation is worsening in Germany. Because the vaccination quota is still below 70% nationwide, football fans have to expect restrictions in some Bundesliga stadiums. In most stadiums, the 2G rule applies in order to ensure full utilization of the stadium capacity. After the federal-state consultations on Thursday in Berlin, it is clear: From the coming week, only vaccinated people or people who have recovered from the coronavirus should have access to sports events. However, there are still exceptions in some cases. Before the 12th matchday of the Bundesliga 2021/22 season, the SPORTBUZZER gives an overview of what fans have to be prepared for when visiting a stadium in the respective arenas.

Munich – Allianz Arena

2G rule, 100% utilization: The Corona rules are linked to a so-called “hospital traffic light”. This symbolically shows with a color how the corona situation is to be assessed. The decisive factor for the “switching” is the capacity utilization of the local intensive care beds in the hospital. The traffic light is currently red, which means that the 2G rule applies in the stadium. If the traffic light turns yellow, a 3G + rule would apply. Then people with a negative PCR test should also be allowed in.

Dortmund – Signal Iduna Park

3G rule, 82.4% utilization: Since the state of North Rhine-Westphalia has introduced a comprehensive 2G regulation in the leisure sector, Borussia Dortmund will have to comply with this from next week. At the moment, a 3G certificate is sufficient, from the home game against Bayern Munich on December 4th, the rules will be tightened and the 2G rule will apply.

Freiburg – Europa-Park Stadium

2G rule, 100% utilization: A comprehensive 2G rule applies in the Freiburg Europa-Park Stadium. Although the SCF is allowed to fully utilize the stadium capacity with spectators, it has reduced it slightly so that just over 30,000 people can attend home games.

Of the stadium’s capacity of just over 30,000 spectators, 29,542 visitors are allowed to come to home games. This corresponds to 97.8% of the total occupancy.

Mainz – MEWA Arena

2G + rule, 90% occupancy: In the MEWA Arena in Mainz, 2G + means that the 2G rule applies in most of the blocks. A 3G regulation only applies in blocks EH. Hoffenheim – PreZero Arena

2G rule, 100% utilization: In addition to an all-encompassing 2G rule and the related full utilization of the stadium, there is a smoking ban in the stadium in the PreZero Arena in Hoffenheim.
