The charity run could not take place this year in the usual form. Nevertheless, the association blut.eV raised 10,000 euros for the fight against cancer.
Königsdorf – The darn 7th year also struck the Königsdorf resume this year. In 2020, due to the pandemic, the long-term running event, with which the association blut.eV does a large part of the work to support cancer patients and their relatives, could not take place as usual. “As an alternative to a running event, everyone was invited in October to take part in the newly devised virtual Königsdorfer CV 2.0,” reports Lisa Abeltshauser from the Upper Bavaria regional group.
On October 3rd, Herbert Dittmann from the Königsdorfer Gebirgsschützen gave the starting shot in front of the club house of TSV Königsdorf, literally. A few participants also started symbolically, of course with the necessary distance. Afterwards, the participants had 15 days to complete as many kilometers as possible and look for sponsors. For every kilometer they ran, the runners stuck a point on their start numbers. “In the end there were 286 runners and two dogs who started for a good cause,” reports Abeltshauser. Together they ran 6,434.40 rounds and raised donations of 10,820 euros. More results and a picture gallery can be seen on the association’s homepage at www.blutev.de.
“It was a very special run,” said Lisa Abeltshauser. “Everyone ran for himself, and yet everyone was out and about for a good cause.” The résumé team from blut.eV, Upper Bavaria regional group, hopes that everyone can be part of the 8th Königsdorf résumé again. Maybe then no longer virtually.
Blood eV. reminds us that every year 476,000 people in Germany develop cancer anew. 218,000 people die from it every year. Experts estimate that the number of cancer cases will increase by 30 percent by 2050. The reason: people are getting older. And cancer is a disease that particularly affects the elderly. vu
