A 285-year-old lemon found in an old cabinet drawer was sold at auction in England for $1,780.

Auctioneers Brettells in Shropshire said the 19th-century cabinet was brought to the auction house by a family who claimed it belonged to a deceased uncle.
A technician was taking photographs of a cabinet for sale when a lemon was discovered in the back of the drawer.
It was inscribed: “Presented by Mr. P. Lou Franchini, November 4, 1739, to Miss E. Baxter.”

The auction house decided to try to sell the aged lemon, and workers were shocked when they paid a high price of $1,780 for it.
Meanwhile, the cabinet sold for just $40.
