Between Friday morning and Saturday morning, 28,003 positive results of corona tests were registered. That is the second highest number ever. On Friday, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) reported almost 35,000 new cases, a record, but that was partly due to reports of a malfunction earlier.
In the past seven days, RIVM registered 162,716 positive tests. That equates to an average of 23,245 new cases per day. This is the highest average ever. The old record stands since November 28. Then there were 157,218 positive tests in seven days, an average of 22,460 per day.
