Members of the National Gendarmerie kidnapped a truck with a load of 28 tons of sodium carbonate, a chemical precursor that is used – among other things – to make cocaine paste.
The operation was carried out at the intersection of National routes No. 3 and Provincial No. 2 and was in charge of personnel from the patrol that operates in that area near San Antonio Oeste and depends on the “Sierra Grande” Road Safety Squad of that federal force.
According to official information, the gendarmes observed a truck that was loaded with bundles of chemical precursors, Therefore, they requested the relevant documentation and permits for their transfer, but the driver did not have them and the Federal Court of Viedma was intervened.
The uniformed proceeded to account for the cargo, resulting in a total of 28 thousand kilos 750 grams of sodium carbonate, distributed in 23 packages of 1,250 grams each.
It is a substance used to make both soaps, detergents and others, as well as for the production of coca paste and cocaine, so the vehicle in charge of transporting the cargo must be registered in the National Registry of Chemical Precursors (RENPRE ).
The intervening magistrate acted together with RENPRE and carried out the corresponding acts in violation of Law 26,045 of the National Registry of Chemical Precursors and Law 23,737, of Narcotic Drugs and ordered the seizure of the chemical substance, the truck, the semi-trailer and that the person involved remains contingent on the cause.
