The same results were confirmed by similar research in 2019. We are probably the only country in the world that celebrates the establishment of a state that has not existed for several decades.

If we have to ask why this is, we have no choice but to admit that we have few other options to point to. First we were part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, then after twenty years of independent statehood we found ourselves first under German tutelage, then under communist tutelage.
We are only now taking full advantage of our freedom. The fact that we see the Czech Republic today as a continuation of Czechoslovakia is because from the beginning we considered Czechoslovakia as a Czech state, although it was also home to the Germans, the Slovaks , the Poles, the Ruthenians and the Jews. We gradually got rid of all these countries, often at the cost of losing land. This is also the reason why some historians have called Czechoslovakia “the failed state.”
