After the rescue, everyone went ashore safely, but 8 of them suffered from hypothermia and were sent to hospital.

Firefighters pointed out that at 10:53 on the 17th, a student was reported trapped in the sea at Lover’s Wharf in Qilong District, and they immediately sent 24 vehicles, 48 ​​people and 3 boats to rescue them The wind and waves were too strong to be trapped at sea, and were subsequently driven ashore by vessels such as the Fire Station and Coastal Patrol. After on-the-spot inventory, it was confirmed that they had all landed A total of 8 students are were hospitalized after being treated by ambulance personnel due to mild hypothermia.

The University of High-tech University said the sea activities held by students of the High-Tech Ocean University Department on December 17 at Lover’s Wharf were compulsory courses (second compulsory course: canoeing theory and practice), a total of 64 students, of which 61 actually attended the event, the registration procedures for the on-site activities were checked in advance and professional teachers, lifeguards and coaches took part in the activities.

In the morning, the course was held in Lover’s Wharf Inner Bay in Xingda Port for long-distance kayak paddling training. At that time, the wind was stable, and long-distance paddling had reached the turning point .Due to the temporary change in wind and rain, the fire brigade patrol was called in to assist in the rescue. A total of 14 students landed at the turning point. Due to hypothermia and minor skin lesions, a total of 8 students (2 male and 6 female) were sent to 5 hospitals in Tainan and Kaohsiung. The rest of the students were picked up by teachers and school colleagues one after another.
